Each piece is individually hand crafted from paper-based lime concrete and is incredibly strong and timeless in its design.
The Stripes Collection is handmade with minimal environmental impact using reclaimed materials, responsible sourcing and a zero waste approach. We follow the principles of circular making so that absolutely nothing ends up as landfill. If we can’t find a use for waste materials generated by producing a particular object, we simply don’t make it.
We do the majority of our sourcing of raw materials on foot from local suppliers collecting genuine post-consumer waste paper as we go. This paper forms the main aggregate of our concrete and recently we’ve been able to substitute some of the tiny amount of cement we use with lime. The wonderful thing about lime is that over its lifetime it gradually re-absorbs all the carbon released during its original manufacture.
Every single vessel we make has to pass a seven day water tightness test before it leaves the workshop. We use only tried and tested, high performance, low environmental impact sealants and varnishes. We use lime-based paint because it is kinder to you and those you share your home with.
